This game was based on the Mystic Journey Non-OLG game that was made back in 1991, written by Dave Hayes and myself. Mystic Journey 8.52 was designed and written in TP 7, using the DDPlus Door Driver version 7.1. °±²Û Disclaimer Û²±° Just a few words: I'm NOT responsible for anything that happens when you run the game. several beta test sites tried it and it worked fine. Remember, you must set BOTH the path and filename! * ASCII Score File: Save as above but this will make a ASCII score file. °±²Û What Is An IGM? Û²±° An IGM (In Game Module) is an add-on to make the game more enjoyable, and customizable. As of the day I wrote this doc, there aren't any (Not surprisingly). IGM's can be accessed in the Travel Agency (Buildings with a ÷), in most towns. The unregistered version of the game can have up to 15 IGM's installed at one time. There is no limit in the registered version! As of v8.2, IGM's can also be accessed thru the main menu, under [Play Board Games]. °±²Û Installing IGM's Û²±° It's not that hard to install an IGM, it only takes 3 lines. Here's an example: Line 1: Ÿ@1 Line 2: TESTIGM.EXE Line 3: `1Test `5In `7Game `!Mod! Line 1 is an "IGM Marker". The number shown after the "Ÿ@" is what the player hits in the agency. So, if the player hits 1 in the agency, this is the IGM it will run. Line 2 is the actual path and filename of the IGM, and the 3rd line is what's shown to the player when in the agency. (Color codes accepted). °±²Û For Programmers! Û²±° If you are into programming [Turbo Pascal actually], then you might want to try and make an IGM for Mystic Journey! Read the PROGRAM.IGM file! °±²Û Troubleshooting Û²±° Q - MJ isn't making the score files! A - Are the paths+filenames right in MJCONFIG? Remember, you need both the path and filename for the score file! Q - When MJ loads up, it says "Overlay Error: " and some number! What's wrong? A - There's probably something wrong with MYSTIC.OVR. Make sure the OVR file is in the same directory as MYSTIC.EXE. If it is and you still get this message, you probably have a tampered or corrupt version. Get a new OVR file from the distribution archive. If it still doesn't work, edit START.BAT and add /E to the MYSTIC.EXE -REAL %1 line, to have the ovr file load in EMS (If you have it). Q - When the game loads, nothing happens - it just returns the user back to the BBS! A - A number of things could have happened. Try... - Editing START.BAT and make sure the path in there is correct. - You have about 300k of conventional memory. If you don't, you might want to remove some things in memory. - Most BBS programs have a swapping option for doors, make sure it's on (System Config|(E) System toggles|(U) Swap Shell function for Renegade Users, Shrink BBS option for WWIV users) Q - I'm running QEMM 7.1, and it keeps kicking users out to DOS? A - Mystic Journey doesn't seem to like QEMM 7.1, but version 8 is fine. Try unloading it. °±²Û Registering Mystic Journey Û²±° The unregistered version a just a wee bit crippled . "Crippled" as in you can't beat the game. You can't go past Mt. Tiberius (About 1/4 way through the game). You also can't edit users, or use magic! Ok, so you want to register the game? Fill out the REGISTER.FRM and send that and $15 to: Summit Productions - ATTN: Ben Brown 14B-150 Elmridge Drive Kitchener, Ontario N2N 1T7 Then you can get the following: - The ability to BEAT the game - Use MAGIC in battles and more! - Unlimited IGM's installed! - Player's Editor in MJCONFIG.EXE - a cool strategy guide to dl in the game [How cool is ASCII? =)] - Every version of registered MJ as soon as it comes out! - All sorts of neat Summit stuff =), like newsletters, and software. Version 8.50 - Level 1 Critter could hit 75 instead of 10 =) - People thought it was too easy to raise levels, so it's now harder - Added a map of the world - Special events when running around in the overworld, better than fighting all the time - New Companion!
